Fishing Rules

Please read every relevant section before booking. The lead booker is responsible for ensuring the whole party understands and follows the rules.

OVERNIGHT CARP FISHING

Scarlett's Lake rules

Scarlett's is an experienced-anglers' carp water. The lead booker is responsible for the whole party.

No non-fishing guests or visitors without express permission.
Park in the designated area. Gear may be dropped at the swim before returning the vehicle.
No vehicle movement after dark or 8:00pm, whichever is earlier, and no turning vehicles in swims.
Arrival is no earlier than 1:00pm; departure is no later than 10:00am.
All gates must remain shut and locked.

Barbless hooks only; crushed barbs are not permitted.
Only rig tubing may be used, at least one metre long. No leadcore or alternative leaders.
No twig rigs, zig rigs or permanently fixed leads. Drop-off lead systems only.
No braided main line; monofilament or fluorocarbon only.
Bait boats are permitted but must be used responsibly.
Fishery landing nets, mats and weigh slings are provided; do not bring your own.
Anyone using equipment that could harm fish will be asked to leave.

Only bait purchased from Farm Lakes may be used, apart from permitted pop-ups and wafters.
No oils, glugs, goo, plastic or artificial bait.
No nuts or particle baits, including peanuts, tiger nuts, maize or hemp.
Sweetcorn is permitted only from 1 November to 1 March.
No live bait, worms or maggots.
Maximum three rods per angler.
No loud noise or music; do not disturb wildlife.
Use the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme bins in the car park.

Record the weight of captures accurately and report anything unusual to the fisheries manager.
Never pull for a break; call the fisheries manager if a fish or tackle becomes snagged.
Carp may be retained for no more than 15 minutes in the supplied flotation slings.
Fish must be placed in a retaining sling before lifting—never lift fish from the water in a net.
No sacks or keepnets.
Use the fish-care treatment supplied after unhooking.

Maximum speed on farm tracks is 10mph.
Farm workers, machinery and horse riders always have right of way. Stop and wait for horses to pass.
Report any damage to gates or fences immediately.
No anglers under 14. Under-18s require an adult and must use a double swim.
No stag, hen or party bookings. The lead booker must be 18+.
Scarlett's is not for beginners; anglers must have suitable experience and fish-handling skills.

SINGLE-ROD DAY FISHING

Advance booking is required. Bring the fish-care equipment listed below and observe the closing time.

Bring suitable landing-net and unhooking equipment; these are not supplied for the Specimen Pond.
Bring a disgorger or forceps.
Never place fish on bare ground or stand while holding fish for photographs.
No sacking or retaining fish for any reason.
