Scarlett's Lake Fishery Rules
Important Information
No non-fishing guests or visitors are allowed except by express permission of Farm Lakes Retreat LTD.
All vehicles are to be parked in the designated parking area. You may drop your gear to your swim and return your vehicle to the car park. No cars are to be moved around the lake during the dark or after 8 pm whichever is earlier. No cars to be turned around in the swims In an emergency please call the Fisheries Manager on the number provided to you.
Arrival to the lake is no earlier than 1.00 pm. Departure from the lake is no later than 10.00 am.
All gates must be shut and locked at all times. The site is on a working farm with livestock present.

Hooks, Rigs & Equipment Rules
- Only micro-barbed hooks are permitted.
- Barbless hooks and hooks larger than size 4 are strictly prohibited.
- Only rig tubing is allowed, and it must be a minimum of 1 metre in length. No leadcore, leaders, or other alternatives.
- Twig rigs are not allowed under any circumstances.
- No permanently fixed leads are allowed. Only drop-off lead systems are permitted to ensure fish safety.
- No Zigs rig allowed
- Braided mainline is not allowed. Only monofilament or fluorocarbon lines are permitted.
- Bait boats are allowed but must not be used to disturb other anglers or wildlife. Boats should be used responsibly, especially regarding distance.
- Landing nets, unhooking mats, and weigh slings are provided by the fishery. Anglers are not permitted to bring their own. Any such equipment brought to the fishery will be removed and returned at the end of the session.
- It is the angler’s responsibility to have the correct gear for the safety of our fish. Anyone deemed to be fishing with equipment that could harm our fish will be asked to leave.
Bait Restrictions, Fishing Etiquette & Wildlife
- Only bait purchased from us may be used in the fishery. Nutrabaits and Eclipse Baits boilies are available, along with our House Pellet.
- Do not bring any bait onto site except for pop-ups and wafters. All other bait must be purchased on-site.
- Absolutely no oils, glugs, or goo’s are to be used at any time.
- No plastic or artificial baits of any kind (including imitation corn, pop-ups, and other synthetic attractors) are strictly prohibited, except as noted above.
- No nuts or particle baits are allowed. This includes peanuts, tiger nuts, maize, hemp, or any other particle-based baits.
- Sweetcorn is allowed from 1st of November to March 1st.
- No live baits (including worms) or maggots are allowed.
- A maximum of 3 rods per angler is allowed at any time.
- No loud noise or music is allowed on the banks. Respect other anglers and the natural surroundings.
- Do not disturb the local wildlife.
- Line bins from the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme are available in the car park. Please use these. Do not throw line on the bank or into bushes.
Fish Care and Management
- All fish in the lake are microchipped. You will be provided with a scanner, and all fish must be scanned upon capture and their weight recorded.
- If you catch a fish that does not scan, it must be retained and reported immediately to the fisheries manager.
- You must never pull for a break. If a fish becomes snagged or tackle gets caught in a tree and you cannot retrieve it safely, you must call the fisheries manager for assistance.
- Anyone caught pulling for a break will be banned from the fishery for life.
- Carp may be retained for a maximum of 15 minutes in the floatation slings provided while you sort camera and weighing equipment. You must not retain any fish for longer than this time.
- All fish caught must be handled with care. Carp are to be kept out of the water for the minimum amount of time possible.
- All fish must be placed into the retaining slings before being lifted from the water.
- Under no circumstances are fish to be lifted from the water in a net.
- No sacks or keepnets are allowed.
- Fish care kits (such as antiseptic treatments for hook wounds) must be used after unhooking the fish. These are provided on arrival.
General Conduct and Environment
- All anglers must have a valid Environment Agency rod licence.
- Littering is strictly forbidden. Anglers must keep their swims clean and take all rubbish away with them.
- No Guns or Weapons of any kind
- No drugs of any kind. Any angler found using drugs will be asked to leave immediately.
- A maximum speed limit of 5 mph must be adhered to when driving around the lake.
- No Fires or BBQs (Gas BBQs may be used with permission)
- Alcohol consumption should be moderate and controlled. Any form of disruptive behavior will result in removal from the fishery.
- Rowing Boats are only to be used by the fisheries manager. Anglers must not use the boats.
- No Dogs, this is a working farm.
- Abuse towards staff or farm workers will not be tolerated and will result in a lifetime ban
- All gates must be shut and locked at all times to prevent livestock from wandering.
Working Farm (Be Aware)
- The maximum speed on farm tracks is 10 mph. This is to ensure the safety of both livestock and farm workers.
- Farm workers and machinery have the right of way at all times. You must give way and allow them to pass.
- Horse riders are present along the track. If you see someone on a horse, you must stop immediately and wait until the horse and rider have passed before continuing your journey.
- Failure to give way to farm machinery or stopping for horse riders will result in being asked to leave the fishery.
- Always check left and right when leaving the lake to ensure no horses are present.
- Any damages to gates or fences should be reported to the fisheries management team as soon as possible.
Restrictions
- No anglers under the age of 14.
- Any angler under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
- Any angler under 18 fishing with an accompanied angler must fish one of the double swims.
- We are a fishing lake, NO STAGS, HENS or PARTY BOOKINGS.
- The lead booker must be over the age of 18.
Scarlett’s Lake is not for beginners or novices. We expect all anglers to have a good amount of experience and good fish-handling skills. It is the lead booker’s responsibility to ensure that all who are fishing have the correct knowledge and experience. Anyone deemed to be too inexperienced or without the correct fish-handling knowledge will be asked to leave. Fish safety is paramount to us.
Farm Lakes Retreat LTD reserves the right to amend these rules at any given time including at short notice.
The lead booker is responsible for ensuring all anglers in the party have read the rules and fully understand them. Failure to adhere to the rules of the fishery may result in you being asked to leave or banned from the fishery.
