The Specimen Lake

A small and intimate pond located at the house end of the Farm Lakes Retreat Complex. Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Carp and Large Eels are all present. A Maximum of 6 Anglers, one rod only. All nets and unhooking mats are provided. No need to bring your own.

The Lake

Our specimen lake is a small, intimate venue with lots of character from numerous sets of lily pads through to marginal planting, creating great habitat for all the fish that call it home.

The lake’s depth varies from 3-7 feet when the lake is full. The bottom is a mix of hard and soft clay with some siltier areas around the large sets of pads. The lake lends itself to a simple approach of float fishing on the wagler for great results. The lift method can work very well when targeting some of the bigger tench. Soft hooker pellets, sweetcorn, and mini boilies all work. At the right time of year, a more natural approach can put a few extra fish on the bank.

This is not a “bagging up” venue. You can expect to catch a range of species to specimen sizes, but it is not a bite a chuck venue.

The Stock

We have worked tirelessly to re-stock the lakes with some of the finest specimen fish from some of the UK’s best suppliers, creating dynamic and thriving fisheries. The surrounding area has been beautifully landscaped to enhance the natural beauty and provide a tranquil setting for fishing and relaxation.

  • Roach and Rudd to 2lb
  • Tench to 8lb
  • Bream to 8lb
  • Perch to 4lb
